KARA SOLAR is a project by the Latin American Association for Alternative Development (ALDEA) in alliance with the Achuar Nationality of Ecuador (NAE). In response to locally identified needs, we are building a solar-powered community transportation system for the Amazon rain forest that combines indigenous knowledge with modern technology. We are motivated by a shared concern for our common home and hope that this dream will serve as a model for other territories and as a positive symbol for the world.

With your support we will:

1. Build the next-generation solar-powered boat as we continue to expand the transportation system.

2. Create a community solar center in Achuar territory to power local economic initiatives, communication, education, and healthcare.

3. Continue to develop the social infrastructure essential to community enterprise through training and local engagement.
